Job Summary

 

Provides a complete shopping experience for customers at Ellie’s Home Store. The Sales Associate will be responsible for product knowledge, customer service, merchandising, and maintenance.  

 

 

Reports To    Department Manager

 

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

 

This position is primarily responsible for retail sales.  These duties and   responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Provides excellent customer service and actively seeks out customers to answer questions.
  • Maintains an organized, stocked, and clean Department.  Replenishes merchandise as necessary.
  • Responsible for labeling new merchandise and assisting the Department Manager in display set-up and reorganization.
  • Maintains educated and familiar with all Department merchandise and concepts.
  • Knowledgeable about the store and Department standards and works according to these standards.
  • Stays informed about advertising campaigns, promotions, and sales activities in order to give excellent customer service.
  • Handles cashier transactions, issues return receipts, and packs merchandise in a proper and quick manner.
  • Answers phone courteously and promptly.
  • Assists in training new Sales Associates.
  • Adheres to the Safety and Loss Prevention policies of the store.
  • Duties as to be assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  1. Prior experience in retail preferred.
  2. Undergraduate degree from an accredited university preferred.
  3. Proven interest and demonstrated past involvement in environmentally responsible causes, issue and organizations.
  4. One or more years in an internal or customer service position for a small to medium sized company, preferable in the “green” environmental industry.
  5. Proven organizational skills and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  6. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  7. Professional appearance.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

Detail oriented and extremely organized.  Strong team player attitude.  Willingness to adapt and be flexible in a growing company.  Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.  Able to work in an autonomous environment while balancing multiple tasks.  Data entry and computer skills.  Must be willing and able to lift boxes weighing over 30 pounds.
