Big Companies Commit to Helping Drive Big Change
Posted by Eco-Products on Oct 18th 2017
The New Plastics Economy Initiative announced six large companies pledging to use 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging by 2025 at the latest. MARS, M&S, PepsiCo, The Coca-Cola Company, Unilever, and Werner & Mertz have made or reiterated a pledge to make packaging not just recyclable, but also in practice recycled, reused or composted. They are all participants in the New Plastics Economy Initiative. We’ve highlighted two reports from the initiative: one on the scale of the challenge posed by our current plastic packaging paradigm posted April 2016, and another on the importance of driving a circular economy with plastics packaging in this post last January.
Buy-in from large companies like this is an encouraging sign for us to see and validates that we are not alone on the journey towards Zero Waste.
