B Corp Certification
Eco-Products is using business as a force for good.
Eco-Products is proud to be a Certified B Corporation since 2016, and this is the third time we’ve gone through the rigorous certification and verification process. As a Certified B Corp, we’re part of a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact.
We’re excited to continue this important work of supporting the transition to a more inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy that works for everyone.
Our B Corp Certification, and updated articles of incorporation from an INC to a PBC (Public Benefit Corporation) provide third-party certification that we are “walking-the-talk" and push us to be the best we can be.
Certified B Corps are companies that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
B stands for Benefit for all. The B Corp movement intends to change our economic system to one that positively impacts all stakeholders – workers, communities, customers, and our planet.
The B Impact Assessment is a rigorous tool. Each version of the assessment evolves and essentially requires additional company programs or actions to maintain or improve our score. We are up for the challenge thanks to a continuous improvement mindset driven by the ever-changing social and environmental needs of our world.
You can review our full Transparent B Impact Assessment on the B Corp Eco-Products website, but here are the highlights.
Highlights from our B Impact Assessment
Governance
Eco-Products Mission and Vision statements showcase our commitment to social and environmental responsibility, as well as our dedication to a specific positive environmental impact.
As a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) we amended our corporate governing documents that require consideration of all stakeholders in our decision-making.
Since 2013, we have published an annual Impact Report, to transparently share with the world the impacts of our products and operations the programs we have in place to improve our impacts, goals for improvement, and progress on those goals.
Community
We work to create an equitable and inclusive workplace for our employees. We have a DE&I Committee and offer training for employees related to topics in DE&I.
Civic engagement is important to us. We give financial donations to environmental causes we believe in, especially as related to expanding compost infrastructure. We donate in-kind products and services to 501c3 organizations in our communities. And, we advocate for environmental programs and policies, especially those related to compost infrastructure.
Every Eco-Products employee is offered 8 hours of Paid Volunteer Time Off (VTO) annually.
Environment
We provide the market with foodservice products with meaningful environmental benefits, whether that is related to its beginning-of-life benefits (think made from renewable resources or post-consumer recycled content), or that they are designed to be composted after use.
We’ve been monitoring energy, water, waste, and transportation metrics of our headquarters and employee operations since 2010. This allows us to set lofty goals for improvement – and meet those goals along the way as well!
In 2022, the rooftop solar array at our Headquarters building in Boulder, CO produced 98% more electricity than what was consumed in the building.
