Bioplastics Week

It’s Bioplastics Week!
Did you know? According to the Plant Based Products Council, biobased plastics can be made by converting the sugars present in plants or other renewable agricultural inputs into plastic via fermentation, heat or chemical reaction. Essentially, renewable biomass is broken down into chemical building blocks, which are then converted into polymers that are used to make biobased plastics.
What better way to celebrate than to highlight our use of PLA (Polylactic Acid). PLA allows us to provide customers with a foodservice product made from plant-based renewable resources that can also be composted in commercial compost facilities at the end of its useful life.
PLA performs much like traditional plastic – but is compostable and derived from crops that grow back every year. Using and composting PLA-based packaging can help keep more food scraps and single-use products out of landfills, and provide a rich soil amendment in the form of compost. That’s circularity and responsible management of waste and resources at its finest!
