What is a Product Carbon Footprint Analysis?
A Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) measures the carbon impacts of a product. To determine the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with our product impacts, carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) values are measured through the evaluation of the inputs, outputs, and potential environmental impacts of a product throughout its entire life cycle.
You may use Product Carbon Footprint data to:
- Benchmark emissions and set goals to improve
- Complete ESG reporting
- Calculate your Scope 3 emissions
- Understand the carbon impact of your purchases
- Make informed purchasing decisions about product and/or material types
PCF data is just one factor to help make decisions about impacts of products. There are other externalities associated with products that may be factors in determining the environmental impact of products.
