Jamie Brown to Speak as Panelist for “Breaking Down Compostable Products”

Our Product & Zero Waste Specialist Jamie Brown will be a panelist at the online webinar “Breaking Down Compostable Products” hosted by the Illinois Recycling Association (IRA) and the Illinois Recycling Foundation (IRF) on December 15th from 10:30 – Noon CT.

This webinar will explore recent public legislation in California to establish compostable product standards, and present the systematic approach of a manufacturer, hauler, and compost facility in Illinois, who have successfully navigated lifecycle complexities to recycle compostable products from their initial use through finished compost.

Jamie will be addressing misinformation about the benefits of using compostable foodservice products and whether they break down properly in a commercial compost site. 

Since joining Eco-Products in 2019, Jamie has worked with local composters, haulers, and customers on Zero Waste solutions while participating in local groups to meaningfully advance access to commercial composting in the region and the state of Illinois. 

She adds “It is very important for me to be engaged in these discussions and educate people on our systems solution approach to composting and how it works for all from procurement to finished compost.”
