Moda Center Sustainability Program + Eco-Products
Jun 26th 2024
Back in October of 2023, the Portland Trail Blazers announced Eco-Products as their Official Zero Waste Partner featuring compostable foodservice packaging from Eco-Products within Moda Center and Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Since the announcement, we have been supporting the organization’s overall composting program and waste diversion efforts.
Our Product and Zero Waste Specialist Team has been working closely with the Trail Blazer’s Sustainability Team to ensure minimal items get sent to landfill and that the Moda Center is in compliance with local rules. In addition, Eco-Products has provided custom signage, as well as Rip City Reuse cups for Moda Center’s groundbreaking reusable drinkware program through a partnership with its Novolex® sister company, Waddington North America®.
The Moda Center is a perfect example of how reusables, compostables, and recyclables can co-exist at a large-scale venue. Rip City Reuse cups works as a high-volume item to reduce single-use and overall waste, while Eco-Products’ compostable packaging helps to capture food waste to go directly into the compost stream.
Eco-Products has a long history of working with stadiums, venues, ski resorts, and others to achieve waste diversion success through the use of compostable packaging in front-of-house collection programs. We’re excited to see the success with the Trail Blazers and urge other venues and professional sports follow their lead.
