Operator Success Story: Federal Reserve Bank of Boston

Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is part of the Central Bank of The United States. The Boston Fed works to promote sound growth and financial stability in New England and throughout the nation by conducting economic research, participating in monetary policy-making, and playing a leadership role throughout the industry.

• The Boston Fed facilities team worked closely with Sodexo to develop a waste diversion plan for their foodservice areas. Republic Services was able to service this plan by providing organics collection despite the challenge of added security utilized by a bank of this size.
• We helped by guiding purchasing decisions and developing a fully compostable bundle of certified compostable foodservice packaging to be used at the facility. We also helped the client understand the BPI requirements of local compost facilities and the need to use Vanguard® molded fiber products. Additionally, we continued discussion around the final destination for organics when the local facility drastically reduced their packaging thresholds. Together, we sourced alternative options.
• The Boston Fed accomplished this by using our Vanguard® bowls and clamshells along with hot cups & lids, cold cups & lids, soup cups & lids, Cutlerease®, deli containers, and salad bowls.
