Partner Spotlight: Compost Manufacturing Alliance

We have great industry partners that we work with at Eco-Products®, so we are highlighting some of them in the Dish. We hope you’ll gain a greater appreciation for these awesome groups and a better understanding of why and how we work with each of them.

This week we highlight the Compost Manufacturing Alliance (CMA).

The Compost Manufacturing Alliance (CMA) is a national group of composters working to test and vet compostable products. Their work includes field testing at different types of composting sites, helping everyone to better understand how products break down.

At Eco-Products, we have been working with CMA to field test our entire bundle of compostable products.

Why is this important? The continuing growth of commercial composting brings a wider variety of composting technologies, operational parameters and climates. Participating in this extensive field testing program will validate which types of composting operations have successfully broken down our packaging and provide clarity into how our products perform in the ideal end-of-life destination: a compost pile.

With growing numbers of foodservice operators seeking to increase their waste diversion by collecting food scraps and packaging to be composted, it’s important that compost manufacturers know that our products will break down at their site.

We are proud to partner with the Compost Manufacturing Alliance to better understand how our products perform in compost piles across the country. We hope that this hard work will lead to greater understanding of what works in each specific type of technology so that we can be even greater partners to our customers and better advocates for the Zero Waste systems solution.
