Partner Spotlight: Foodservice Packaging Institute
Posted by Eco-Products on Sep 2nd 2020
At Eco-Products®, we work with many awesome industry partners, so we’re highlighting some of them through the coming weeks here in the Dish. We hope that you’ll gain a greater appreciation for these groups and a better understanding of the excellent work that they do.
This week we highlight the Foodservice Packaging Institute (FPI).
Founded in 1933, FPI is the trade association for the foodservice packaging industry in North America. The organization is committed to reducing the impact of its members’ products on the environment while increasing recovery of packaging — a win-win for business and the planet.
FPI has an internal group – the Paper Recovery Alliance and Plastics Recovery Group (PRA/PRG) – that works to develop and promote economically viable and sustainable recovery solutions for foodservice packaging. PRA/PRG is actively working with communities, materials recovery facilities (MRFs), and commercial composters to expand recovery options across North America. To learn more, check out www.recyclefsp.org.
Eco-Products engages specifically in the composting work of the PRA/PRG, supporting to better understand the challenges with packaging within the composter community, and working on initiatives to help overcome these hurdles.
Everyone has a role to play in creating a more sustainable future, and we are proud to partner with FPI on its efforts to promote increased recovery of foodservice packaging.
