Success Story Spotlight: Henry Ford Hospital

Henry Ford Health has more than 30,000 employees working across its five hospitals, as well as a 100-bed psychiatric hospital, a physician network of more than 1,200 doctors, and the Health Alliance Plan insurance company.
- The system’s flagship hospital is Henry Ford Hospital (HFH) located in Detroit, Michigan. It is a state-of-the-art academic hospital and research center recognized for excellence in many fields from cardiology to cancer treatment.
- As part of its commitment to the health of their community, employees, and the environment, HFH has implemented a major initiative to remove polystyrene foam from their foodservice operations and convert to the use of renewable and compostable materials. They are also working on launching a composting program which will begin with diverting kitchen food scraps.
- The hospital is using a range of Eco-Products’ items including hot cups, cold cups, soup cups, lids, and clamshells. Our team assisted HFH with custom signage communicating their sustainability message and provided connections to local composters and haulers to consider once they are ready to launch their program.
