Vanguard™ 9 inch, 3-Compartment Clamshell is CMA Approved!

We’re excited to announce that our Vanguard™ 9 inch, 3-compartment clamshell (EP-HC93NFA) is the first no-added PFAS molded fiber item EVER to be approved by the Compost Manufacturing Alliance (CMA)! 

A little history here…in January of 2020 the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) put in place strict new rules requiring all BPI-Certified items to be under 100 parts per million of total organic fluorine, and free of intentionally added PFAS.  Vanguard was the first line of molded fiber products in the industry to achieve BPI Certification under these new rules.  

Since that time, Eco-Products has expanded the Vanguard line to include more than 40 shapes and sizes of plates, bowls, containers, and trays – making it the most comprehensive assortment of no-added PFAS molded fiber products available anywhere. 

In addition to its long history of certifying products with BPI, Eco-Products has also worked with CMA to field test products in different composting environments.  In one ongoing project studying a range of different molded fiber products, the Vanguard 9 inch, 3-compartment item met the requirements for CMA’s windrow technology approval (CMA-W). 

While the approval is only for the one clamshell at this time, we hope to see further approvals on other Vanguard products as additional test results become available.
