The SFI 2015-2019 Fiber Sourcing Standard promotes responsible forestry practices. Requirements include measures to:

  • Broaden the practice of biodiversity
  • Use forestry best management practices to protect water quality
  • Provide outreach to landowners
  • Utilize the services of forest management and harvesting professionals

This standard distinguishes SFI from all other forest certification programs in that it sets mandatory practice requirements for the responsible procurement of all fiber sourced directly from the forest, whether the forest is certified or not.

Getting certified to SFI is one of the best things that organizations can do to support the long-term sustainability of forests and ensure the multitude of benefits that forests provide for future generations. As the drive to reduce carbon pollution and waste intensifies, SFI standards are the fastest growing, highly trusted solution that can support the increased need for products from the forest. By partnering with SFI, we play a role in shaping markets today and ensuring that sustainably managed forests continue to play a crucial role in keeping the planet healthy.

As the leading manufacturer in compostable packaging, Eco-Products is excited to take this positive step and continues to obtain more raw material certifications in its product line.
