Our 2023 Impact Report

Each year in this annual report we reflect upon our impact on the planet and our communities, disclose progress on impact related goals, and give a nod to how we plan to continue to evolve to meet the future needs of our communities and the planet.
In 2023 we:
Rated in the 89th percentile of reporting companies in our in our category for the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating.
Combatted composting contamination from non-compostable products through:
- Product Innovation
- Launched the Veridian collection of products, a curated collection of green-printed and green-tinted products effectively labeled for composting, and designed to meet labelling requirements in Colorado and Washington.
- Re-branded our BlueStripe line of products, to make it clear that they aren't compostable.
- Compost Infrastructure Support:
- Created the CIRC program – which stands for Controls Intended to Remove Contamination. CIRC is a collection of free, open-source tools and frameworks designed to improve composting systems by working across the value chain and removing contamination from the start.
Co-created meaningful waste diversion successes by:
- Supporting the expansion of commercial compost infrastructure accepting compostable products in five communities.
- Welcoming 24 new customers to Waste Diverting status
Supported our communities by:
- 67% of our employees using their paid volunteer time
- Welcoming four Composter-Hauler-Distributors who qualify as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise into our distributor network
- Joining forces with our parent company, Novolex, to strengthen our DE&I programming.
Achieved net-zero electricity consumption at our headquarters in Boulder, Colorado, through the roof-top solar panels once again.
Recertified as a B Corp for the 3rd time!
