The Ecoist: U.S. Government Issues Report on Climate Change.
Posted by Eco-Products on May 7th 2014
And It’s Kinda Scary.
Yesterday the U.S. government released a report detailing the likely impacts of our planet’s continued warming. Sea level rise, longer periods of high temperatures and droughts, and more intense rain and snow are likely to occur – not in the distant future, but now and over the coming decades. The report didn’t attribute these changes to human activity. However, regardless of the cause of these changes in our climate, they are still likely to occur. Because of this, governments, institutions, companies, and individuals are taking notice. Did you know that half of the companies in the S&P 500 have targets for reducing carbon emissions? Clearly this is not a fringe issue. We’re happy about that.
You know what else is cool? Composting and making products out of post-consumer recycled content can also decrease emissions contributing to this less-than-ideal situation. So you can feel good knowing our GreenStripe® and BlueStripe™ products are taking small steps in the right direction.
