Our vision is big: a Zero Waste future. If we want society to rethink how it manages waste and packaging, no one entity can make this happen on its own. That’s why we’re active in a number of industry groups. Because collaboration = bigger impact. In past posts we focused on partners that are key to making the change we want to see happen. Today we’re spotlighting the Compost Manufacturing Alliance (CMA).

While our products get their BPI certification through lab testing, we also work with CMA to test our products using real-world composting technologies.

The CMA is a nationwide partnership of compost manufacturing facilities providing field disintegration testing for foodservice products across the country. CMA’s mission is to make compost manufacturing more sustainable by working proactively to field-test compostable products in real-world compost processing technologies.

Eco-Products was one of the first supporters of CMA as we see value in having composters test and confirm that our products break down successfully at their facilities. This is a valuable complement to the lab-based BPI certification, which we have long used as third-party validation of compostability. We have committed to testing all of our BPI-certified products with CMA as well.
